Ettore and Giansevero Fila, two brothers from Italy, created Fila in 1911 as a small business in Biella offering sewing materials to the local people. Despite its humble beginnings, the duo had ambitions to make their venture a worldwide sportswear brand. To achieve this goal, they initially produced superior quality undergarments and knitwear, which were popular during the early 20th century.

In the 1970s, Fila started out as a provider of Tennis and Skiing apparel and had an immediate effect on the market. The brand quickly gained prominence as a leader in sportswear, being associated with top-tier clothing for both athletes and recreational sportspersons. During the 80s and 90s, Fila kept its popularity going, becoming renowned for its Disruptor sneakers and stylish streetwear.
