Adrian Dalsey, Larry Hillblom, and Robert Lynn founded global logistics company DHL in 1969. The title of the organization is derived from the trio’s last initials. In its early days, their primary focus was international air courier services; however, DHL has broadened its services to include land and sea freight, contract logistics, and e-commerce fulfillment.
Throughout the 70s and 80s, DHL became a preeminent organization in the international air express market, having a broad reach in Asia, Europe, and North/South America. In the 90s, their services were broadened to include ground and ocean freight shipping as well as logistics/supply chain management. Presently part of German company Deutsche Post DHL Group, they serve over 220 countries/territories globally.
