James Sinegal and Jeffrey Brotman are the founders of Costco, a membership-only warehouse club chain that was established in 1976 in San Diego, California. The first store opened its doors in Seattle, Washington.

In 1993, the joining of Costco and Price Club, a warehouse store chain established by Sol Price in 1976, created the entity known as PriceCostco. By 1997 this organization had changed its name to Costco. The headquarters of Costco is located in Issaquah, Washington and it has extended its reach to encompass over 800 warehouse clubs scattered across various countries including the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Taiwan and Australia.
