William Colgate, a soap and candle maker, established the well-known Colgate brand in 1806. He recognized a chance to venture into the personal care industry and created an array of oral hygiene products such as toothpaste and toothbrushes.
Originally, Colgate produced soap and candles, but later included a successful starch line. In 1873, the first Colgate Dental Cream toothpaste was released; it was packaged in a jar and to be used with a brush.
In 1896, Colgate made history by becoming the first company to present toothpaste in a tube for a more hassle-free and hygienic way of using it. Through the years, the business kept on evolving with new products and is currently known as one of the most respected companies when it comes to oral care.
